The dangers of Internet and social media addiction – David Foster Wallace

This video is both sobering and balanced, as it recognises how social media has become so accessible in the modern world that there is a danger that the users can get carried away in using it.

I have noted that commercial entertainment producers are motivated by profits and strive to make it as pleasurable and addictive as possible, in order to keep consumers coming back, while escaping or forgetting about the reality of the world’s issues and challenges.

I have also noted the importance of dealing with the stress and challenges of the world in a healthy way, such as talking about it and facing them, and seeking to improve the world around us.

In addition, we can choose to be more conscious or selective in consuming only those meaningful and thought-provoking videos and posts, in order to become truly happier and healthier individuals.
